Each year over 1,000 children directly benefit
from their participation in Center classes. Additionally,
the Center is active in our community offering weekly classes
at McKeesport Middle School, Pathfinder School, (a facility for
special needs children), Chartiers Valley Middle School, as well
as many outreach programs, classes, workshops and performances
for schools, seniors, nursing homes, community events, churches,
and synagogues. While some Center students have gone on
to appear on Broadway, in television, and film, all students have
a chance to shine by experiencing and exploring the performing
arts!
“The Center offered me an outlet for my creativity at
an early age. The teachers gave me a strong foundation
for what later would go on to be a career in the arts. To
them I am forever grateful! My first solo I had at the
Center was from The Music Man – I never dreamed I would
go on to do the show on Broadway!”

The Center offers children the opportunity
to shine - not become stars. Our curriculum focuses on process,
not product. This means classes emphasize learning and
skill development. Our non-competitive, non-recital program uses
age and developmentally appropriate material geared for students
of all skill levels. Performance opportunities exist apart from
the class curriculum and are intended to be opportunities for
Center students who wish to experience and explore skills developed
in the classroom.
