Classes in Tap emphasize skill development and are intended for those students who wish to increase their mastery in these areas.
This course explores clarity of sound and rhythm with a variety of basic steps. These steps are learned with technique, style and music awareness. The student will be exposed to a “center of the room” or “barre” warm-up which will lead into simple “across the floor” work. The “vocabulary” and “steps” introduced in this class are eventually put into complete tap combinations. Additional classes will continue to build on technique with an emphasis on clear sounds and good upper body work. The student will continue to be exposed to a “center of the room” or “barre” warm-up. The “foot work” and “vocabulary” introduced in this class will build on the basic steps that have already been explored in Beginning Tap. As the course develops the focus of the class will be on tap steps in conjunction with theatre dance movement.
